The game against Porto on Tuesday can quite frankly be described in one word-disappointing.The boys quite clearly looked fatigued and the effects, both emotional and physical,of the dramatic game against Villa looked evident. The "lapse of concentration" allowed Porto to level the tie up and thus obtain an advantage going to Portugal, where Porto's home record is immaculate. The 2-2 scoreline seemed just on the evidence of play, and if United have any hopes of succeeding in their quest of attaining another 3 trophies on separate fronts, then they simply cannot afford to perform like they did against Porto.
With due respect to Porto, most likely United will manage to get through because they quite simply are in a different class as compared to their less illustrious opponents. However football is an extremely unpredictable game, and no match can be won on paper.United will have to face the hostile conditions of Portugal, and gave a champions performance to secure passage into the semi-finals,because Porto will be no pushover. But if nothing else, this performance proves to us that there is still a lot to do before guaranteeing any more trophies this season, and most importantly not to underestimate any of the upcoming opponents. Here I sign off wishing best of luck to the boys and hope that when I next post,it will carry favorable news for United.
Take care guys, and always keep the red flag flying high.....................
